London so far

After days of being jetlagged we've finally gotten into the swing of things. London is all that they say, a massive melting pot of cultures and diversity. The architecture is beautiful, and all the people lovely. Everything is just as expensive as they say. We're in the process of apartment hunting now......we've seen a fair few places now and every place has it pros and cons.

Hopefully the next time I update this, it will be from our lovely new and probably - extremely overpriced, apartment!

God bless Hong Kong..........and Lane Crawford.

So I didn't make it to the Andy Warhol exhibition. Instead I got distracted by the heavens that is Causeway Bay. Can I just say how much I love the Hong Kong MTR. I don't think I've waited longer than 3 minutes for a train that goes super fast and is clean and air-conditioned. Despite the pervy Chinese men, I prefer taking the metro to catching a cab anyday!

With Paulie gone for the past 2 days, I've been left to do whatever it is that I please. Need I say more! The 2 following photos are me in a nutshell: bi-polar.

Black shimmy top thing, studded loafers - not quite the babies from Louboutin but these chinese copies will do! His & hers Alexander McQueen key rings (Lane Crawford sale find), gold cuff and gold strand necklace.

Denim shirt from Gala Place, H&M striped shirt, Puzzle fluro pink flats, OPI in Mermaids Tears and Lunch at the Dehli ($10 each!) and super-awesome pens from the mother of all mothers, Muji.

A lot of the places I've been recommended are major shopping malls with the usual international labels i.e. Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Zara etc. I prefer to put my life at risk and follow dodgy signs into run-down buildings and walk up deserted staircases to find real gems. I managed to come across a little store in Causeway Bay that sells super cheap OPI, Essie and Zoya nail polish for less than $10AUD each. If you're heading to Hong Kong anytime in the future and need any recommendations, PM me and I'd be happy to help.

There's so much to say about this awesome city but I don't know where to start or how I could finish.

Hello Hong Kong!

She is everything I imagined her to be - busy, brash, in -your-face, commercial and I am in love.

All we've been doing is eating, sleeping and walking heaps. My feet have swelled and I have had to buy new shoes to accommodate for my larger-than-normal feet. So far we've only explored Kowloon, leaving the rest of the week to visit Hong Kong Island. From what Paulie tells me, it is a lot more white-washed than Kowloon. We're staying in Mongkok and I love the grittiness of it - the slum-looking apartment blocks, flashy lights and street food stalls which is reminiscent of Sydney's Chinatown. Walking around Tsim Sha Tsui, it was a lot more westernised and clinical, Nathan Road laced with international designer brands, almost reminding me of Ginza or any other major asian city with their love for designer goods.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to see an Andy Warhol exhibition somewhere in TST. Paulie has left to GZ this afternoon for a couple of days so I am left to venture this beast of Hong Kong on my own.

Wish me luck!

Here

I am, the night before we leave. After a year of anticipating and months of planning, we are just one sleep away from a massive life-change. Last night we said our final see-ya's with a massive mash up at Paulie's, with all our amazing family and friends. Lots of drinks and possibly more tears, I didn't realise it would be so hard to say bye to everyone. I never in my mind thought I would start missing everyone so soon. Everyone that showed up last night showed nothing but love and I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. I think the biggest lesson for me here is that I need to appreciate all the people in my life a little more, not just the faces I see everyday but the ones I see only ever so often. I feel truly blessed, me and Paulie are surrounded by the most amazing people that have shown nothing but love and support for chasing our dreams.

Fear and anxiety is starting to sink in but hopefully the excitement and adrenalin will squash any doubts away......sleep-deprivation is starting to take its toll, so I'll leave it here.......and just leave on the note that I cannot wait to see how the next year will turn out, I know it will be a crazy year for me and Paul but as long as we have each other, everything will be amazing <3

Quarter Twenty One

Was the destination of choice for P's birthday dinner. Relatively affordable at $130 per head for the degustation menu with matching wines, it is a good place for the fine dining service at a more casual tone and affordable price.

Slow-cooked pheasant, brussel sprouts, chesnuts, swede and smoked potato puree.

Wearing BCBG black velvet blazer, deep gold sheer Ellery dress tucked into silk Zimmermann trousers and Zara suede pumps.

4 more sleeps to go before we jet off!
Current mood: Denial.

10 days, 7 hours

I love inspirational quotes in pretty font types.

They reassure me that forcing my boyfriend to move to London with me, a city we've both have never been to, quit our jobs, leave our family and friends behind, with no jobs lined up or a permanent place of accommodation, is truly an inspiring and courageous thing to do.
When really, I should be worrying about us blowing our life savings on catching the tube (apparently it is really expensive), eating puddings and pies and buying iconic British things like.......Burberry trench coats.

We're screwed.

First posts....

on a new blog are always a bit awkward. Almost like doing it for the first time. I'm not quite sure of what to say. There seems to be huge pressure on writing that first, mind-blowing piece that will leave you wanting more. However, like sex for the first time, it will usually be quick and over before you know it.

So to adhere to my expectations of first-time sex, I will leave you unsatisfied right here.

Until next time =)
